The video selfie is one of Instagram’s checks: you record a short clip of your face while turning your head in different directions to confirm there’s a real person behind the account. Instagram may ask for one to recover a suspended account or when it sees activity that doesn’t add up. According to Instagram, the video isn’t posted on the profile and is deleted from its servers within 30 days.
Who has to do it
The verification is done by the real person who appears in the account. If the account you run for a campaign shows the creator and Instagram asks to confirm her identity, she’s the one who does it. That’s why you request it with a ticket from Tikful Studio.
No tricks
The person in the video has to be the one recording it, live. Using photos, prerecorded videos, filters or someone else’s face is deceiving Instagram, and it can end with the account lost for good.
How it works with a Tikful Studio ticket

- The creator logs in and records the video. She follows Instagram’s prompts: looking at the camera and turning her head in the direction of the arrows.
- Instagram reviews it. It may restore the account right away or take 24 to 48 hours to review the video.
- The answer arrives. Instagram sends it to the email address linked to the account.
- The ticket is closed. Once the account is active again, the ticket is closed in Tikful Studio.
Afterward, change the Instagram and email passwords and generate new backup codes: your login details have been in other hands.
If Instagram doesn’t restore the account
Read the reason in the notice Instagram sends you and in your Instagram account status, and follow the options it gives you. Don’t open another account to keep posting the same thing: if the account was disabled for breaking Instagram’s rules, Instagram doesn’t allow it.
