A fan page grows the same way as any other account: with videos people want to watch, posted consistently and without breaking the rules. The difference is that you work with a creator’s authorized material, so your job is to choose, edit and present that material better than anyone else.
Start with a transparent setup
Before you think about growth, the account has to make clear what it is:
- The fan page category, visible on the profile.
- A name and a bio that say it’s a fan account, written in the third person.
- A dedicated email address and two-factor authentication turned on.
- The campaign link inside a link-in-bio page with an 18+ warning.
You’ll find every step in the guide to creating an Instagram fan page.
Edit so Instagram recommends your clips
Instagram gives priority to original content and recommends less of what gets reposted without adding anything. On a fan page, the original part is your editing:
- Pick the right moment. A gesture, a line or a reaction that makes sense without context.
- Hook people in the first second. Open with the most striking part, not the intro.
- Make it easy to follow on a phone. Use a vertical format and large subtitles, because a lot of people watch Reels with the sound off.
- Add something of your own. On-screen text, a different cut or context in the caption.
Changing technical details, like flipping the image or changing the speed, doesn’t turn a repeated video into an original one. Instagram explains this on its page about recommendations and originality.
Post at a pace you can keep up
- In the first few days, mostly watch and take part. Follow accounts in your niche, leave comments and notice which similar Reels do well.
- After that, post consistently. At Tikful, we recommend no more than 2 or 3 Reels a day, with at least 3 or 4 hours between them.
- Never in bursts. Uploading several videos back to back within a few minutes looks like spam.
A sample weekly schedule
| Day | What to post | Suggested time |
|---|---|---|
| Monday | An edited clip from one of the creator’s videos that already did well | 10 a.m. |
| Wednesday | A carousel or a short behind-the-scenes video from the authorized material | 1 p.m. |
| Saturday | A recap of the week’s best moments | 7 p.m. |
The times are only a guide. Your account’s Insights show when your audience is active, so adjust them to what you see.
Make good use of your bio link
Your link-in-bio page is the path to the campaign link. You can remind people in your posts that it’s in your bio, but without sexual language or promises about the content: Instagram’s rules don’t allow sexual solicitation.
One fan page or several?
Start with one and grow it. If you run several later on, give each one its own focus and its own edited content: posting the same video on several accounts at once is repetitive content, and Instagram may stop recommending all of them.
If an account gets an alert, don’t open another one to carry on the same way. Check your Instagram account status to see what happened, and fix the cause.
